Komatsu to Provide Assistance for People Affected by the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquakes

We hereby extend our sincere condolences to the people suffering from the earthquakes having its epicenter in Kumamoto Prefecture.

Komatsu Ltd. (President and CEO: Tetsuji Ohashi) will provide assistance equivalent to JPY10 million, including material assistance, as follows.

On April 16, Komatsu created a local emergency task force of assistance at Nishi Nihon Company (in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture) of Komatsu Construction Equipment Sales and Service Japan Ltd., providing a variety of assistance, responding to customers' needs, checking the safety of employees, and gathering information, etc. The local emergency task force will also make prompt assistance efforts in collaboration with and through the local municipality.

We sincerely wish for quick recovery of the destructed areas.

(2)Free-of-charge lending of prefabricated structures
(3)Cash donations
*In addition to the substantive assistance activities above, Komatsu Group plans to collect cash donations from employees.

Concerning possible effects on the Komatsu Group, we confirmed the safety of all employees of the Komatsu Group as of April 17. We anticipate no substantial impact on our production, sales and service operations.
