Participation in the Plenary Session of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development
Komatsu has participated in WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development) activities since FY2010. The major purpose of the WBCSD (established 1995) is for CEO class executives from the approximately 200 companies across the world to proactively advance environmental policies to create an international free competitive market. Currently, Japan has 18 member companies and the WBCSD Secretariat plans to increase the number of member companies in the future. Komatsu participated in the plenary session held in Chennai, India in October 2016 and is thinking and acting on ways to realize a sustainable society.
As a long-term vision, WBCSD is aiming for "a world where 9 billion people can live well, within the planet's resources" by 2050 as well as working to spread the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) which the United Nations set forth in 2015 as a goal for 2030.
We are also beginning to work on "resource recycling" in addition to the existing action theme of "climate change".
